Tanzania Yellow Fever Requirements
A yellow fever certificate is required only if you're arriving from — or have transited through — a country with risk of yellow fever transmission.
Who actually needs a certificate
Tanzania requires proof of yellow fever vaccination only for travellers arriving from, or who have transited through, a country with risk of yellow fever transmission — most of sub-Saharan Africa and parts of South America. If you're flying directly from Europe, North America, the Middle East or most of Asia, you generally won't need one.
Requirements can and do change, so we always recommend checking the current list against your specific routing — including layovers — before you travel, rather than relying on what was true for a previous trip.
If you do need one
The vaccination must be given at least 10 days before arrival, and the International Certificate of Vaccination (the yellow card) should be carried with your passport, not packed in checked luggage. Border officials do check on entry.
We'll flag it either way
When we confirm your trip, we check your routing and flag clearly whether a certificate applies to you — it's one of the items in the pre-departure pack we send once your booking is confirmed.
