Privacy Policy

1. Who this policy covers

This policy covers wakalisafaris.com, run by Wakali Safaris, a tour operator based in Arusha, Tanzania. It does not cover third-party sites we link to, such as Tripadvisor, Instagram, Facebook or TikTok.

2. What we collect

• Contact and proposal forms: your name, email address, and whatever else you choose to tell us (travel dates, group size, budget, preferences, questions).
• Newsletter sign-up: your email address only.
• The chat assistant: the messages you send it, and the page you're on when you send them, so it can give a relevant answer.
• Saved trips and your chosen currency (USD/EUR): stored only in your own browser's local storage, on your device — we never receive or see this.
• We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and this site does not run Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar tracking script.

3. How we use it

• To reply to your enquiry, quote a trip, or process a request you've made.
• To add you to the newsletter list, only if you signed up for it, and to remove you if you ask to stop.
• To answer questions through the chat assistant.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.

4. Who we share it with

• Form submissions are delivered to our own Arusha office inbox by email — we don't store them in a separate database or CRM.
• The chat assistant is powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Messages you send it are processed by Anthropic to generate a reply, under Anthropic's own privacy terms.
• Outbound email is sent through our SMTP provider, which handles delivery only and doesn't use your information for its own purposes.
• We don't share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.

5. Cookies and local storage

This site doesn't set tracking or advertising cookies. The only browser storage we use is local storage, on your own device, for two things: which trips you've saved and your preferred display currency. Neither is sent to us or to any third party, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.

6. How long we keep it

Enquiries and proposal requests are kept as long as needed to respond and, if you book, to run your trip and meet our own accounting and legal requirements. Newsletter addresses are kept until you ask us to remove them. You can ask us to delete your information at any time — see Section 8.

7. Your rights

• Ask what information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct or delete it.
• Ask to be removed from the newsletter list at any time — email us and we'll take you off it.
• Clear your saved trips and currency preference yourself, at any time, by clearing this site's data in your browser.

9. Changes to this policy

If what we collect or how we use it changes, we'll update this page. The date below reflects the version currently in effect.
